She has had Genny for nine months and noted the difference between Genny and her previous dog. “My last dog was just calm and did everything right all the time, and Genny is just full of energy,” she said.Despite Genny’s energetic nature, Kelly said their bond has grown stronger. “I don’t have any children, and this is my child actually, we do everything together all day long. I’m retired,” she said.Kelly has learned that every dog has a unique personality, and on National Dog Day, she holds Genny a little tighter. “A lot of people get a dog and want to rehome them, but I never had that thought.
